Interesting article and topic here from LinkedIn around the mindset of todays workforce. According to a recent survey, 42% of Americans say they do not want a promotion. My experience over the last few years does re-enforce that this is playing out in some way, with the impact of the pandemic on work cultures and experiences, and the ongoing fear of fluctuations in the economy driving layoffs, etc. I do still see many fully committed folks wanting to take on more, however it does feel like more folks are simply interested in just doing their role and not being overly inspired to take on new areas of work, get trained in new skills, or take on lead roles or press for a promotion. Bottom line, if you are engaged with your workforce in multiple ways, even challenges like this can be overcome to some degree if you are having ongoing conversations about what is – and is not – motivating your workforce based on their various roles and seniority levels.
