I am looking forward to seeing what comes out of the new administration regarding how they will undertake their ambitious goal to accelerate the modernization of federal IT and identify related inefficiencies. It is quite discouraging to see in the article at the link below that so many GAO recommendations to the OMB and agencies since 2010 have not been addressed – and if they had there could have been millions in savings, with positive impact to stakeholders and citizens.
- 463 of 1,881 IT-related recommendations not addressed
- 32 of its 69 priority recommendations not enacted
Hopefully with new leadership and a new approach, federal IT acquisitions will better maximize the benefit from the substantial investment made in IT.
